In a nutshell, how we see ourselves as a church is in our name:

Christ

Jesus Christ and His kingdom are at the centre of everything we are and do as a church. The word, ‘Christ’, means ‘anointed king’ in the Bible, so Jesus is the king we need to rescue us from sin and rule us in love. We exist to worship Him and make him known, along with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit – One God in three persons.

Church

Believing in Jesus means belonging to His Church. From different backgrounds and ages we’re a friendly community that have come to know Jesus as lord and saviour. We seek to serve Him by loving one another and making Him known.
The word ‘Church’ means ‘assembly’ and so our gathered worship times are the best time to get to know what we’re about. Our services are simple but never simplistic. We meet to worship God in His presence as we hear His Word read and preached, join in prayer, song and in communion at the Lord’s Supper.

Salisbury

Whilst the truth of Jesus, and His Church is all over the world – God has placed our congregation in the city of Salisbury. We’re based in Harnham and want to be blessing to the local area. We’d love to welcome you if you’re near to us, even if you’ve never been to church or haven’t been for a while.

What We Believe

The most important thing you need to know about our beliefs is that they centre on Jesus.

Christians can and do disagree on many things, but all of us are united in our love of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. At Christ Church, we gladly welcome every follower of Jesus as our brother or sister in Christ, regardless of whether or not they share all of the beliefs outlined below.

We are an evangelical church. This means that the good news of Jesus and his salvation is the very heart of what we believe. It also means that we believe that the Bible is God’s complete, perfect, and unchanging word to the world. We believe God’s Word is powerful to save and change us and so we are committed to teaching the Bible at each service.

We are a reformed church. Christ Church Salisbury is not part of something new; our roots go back to the earliest Christian churches, whose teaching was summarised in the Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian creeds, and we happily subscribe to these. We also gladly embrace the confessions and catechisms which came out of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century as faithful reflections of the teaching of the Bible.

We are a Presbyterian church. Christ Church is part of the International Presbyterian Church (IPC).
